The game of LFP battery supply chain

It is understood that at present, six companies have committed to invest in the construction of lithium iron phosphate (Le) battery production facilities in the United States, with a total investment of more than 11 billion US dollars. Other automakers, including Tesla and Rivian, are said to be considering similar investments. The following companies have announced that they will invest in Le batteries:

1、Gué plans to invest $3.5 billion in 2026 to open an Le production plant in Marshall, Mich., that will use technology licensed from Chinese company CATL.

2、South Korean battery company LG CELLS New Energy plans to increase production of LFP cells at its cell plant in Holland, Mich., as part of the company’s $1.7 billion expansion plan.

 

3、Chinese battery maker Guoxuan High-Tech announced that it will invest $2.4 billion in Big Rapids, Michigan, starting in 2025, to produce battery materials.

 

 

4、Norwegian battery startup Freyr plans to open a $1.7 billion battery factory outside Atlanta that will use technology from Aleees and 24M. The company has not yet announced a start date.

 

5、Michigan start-up ONE plans to invest $1.6 billion in the town of Van Buren (Van Buren) to start trial production of batteries by the end of this year.

 

6、Israel’s ICL Group announced that it will invest $400 million to build a battery materials plant near St. Louis, Missouri, which will open in 2024.

De plus,, Mazda and Panasonic are negotiating on the supply of batteries, and plan to install Panasonic’s lithium-ion batteries in Mazda’s electric vehicles planned to be launched by 2030.These investment plans show that in the electric vehicle industry, the supply chain of lithium iron phosphate batteries is gradually expanding.
